Passports – All visitors must be in possession of a passport valid for at least six months, except those with United Nations Convention travel documents. Visitors must also have outgoing travel documents and sufficient funds to finance their stay. Valid entry visas are mandatory; Entry visas are valid for a maximum of 90 days, although extensions may be obtained from any immigration office in Botswana. No visitor is allowed more than a 90-day stay in every calendar year, unless permission has been granted in the form of a waiver pending the outcome of a residence permit application.
Visa Application Form – You must provide two fully completed copies of the visa application forms attached before. The application forms must:
Include answers for all fields, displaying your full name as it appears in your passport and signed
Proof of Travel Arrangements – You must provide proof of travel arrangements for the duration of your trip. Details of your intended arrangements must:
Include a copy of an itinerary or e-ticket showing entry and exit dates
Show the traveler’s full name OR group travelling together (as printed in their passport)

N.B Those who have Botswana permits but decide to stay outside the country for more than six months are required to apply for a visa when they come back to Botswana.

All Citizens of Commonwealth countries do not require visa except those from Bangladesh, Cameroon, Ghana, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Foreign nationals whose countries have signed a Visa Abolition Agreement with Botswana are also not required to apply for a visa.

Notice on Visas to Botswana: Applicants are advised to give twenty-one (21) working days to process the application. Any visa granted on this application will be subjected to compliance with the immigration regulations of the Republic of Botswana. In the case of a lost or damaged visa or permit, the applicant will be required to pay a fee, to have their visa or permit reproduced.
Notes
- Visa fee is non-refundable.
- Allow at least 25 working days for visa processing.
- Yellow fever vaccination is not a requirement to enter Botswana.
- Malaria shots are advised.
APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF STAY BEYOND THE 90 DAYS Please be informed that with effect from 01 June 2007 all visitors to Botswana who wish to stay beyond 90 days with a valid passport for extension are required to submit applications are required to submit applications for extension, 14 days before that 90 days elapse.
NB: The host should accompany the applicant during request for extension of days.
